What is biofuel?

Biofuels — a fuel made from renewable natural sources. This includes wood, wood chips, sawdust, peat, even straw, leaves, bark, and needles, as well as briquettes and granules (pellets).

Biofuel existing in two forms: liquid and solid.

Our Trading House Eco House specializes trading of solid biofuels in Scandinavia and Europe.

Wood pellets are made without chemical fixative under high pressure. The length of wood pellets approximately 20 - 50 mm Diameter of 4 - 10 mm . The calorific value of wood pellets is equal to 5 kW / hour per kilogram (!). Energy content of one kg of wood pellets is equal to half liters of liquid fuel (diesel fuel). There is also an "agrarian" granules, for example, SHP (Sunflower Husk Pellets), ie pellets from sunflower husk.

pellets

Wood pellet are devided into 3 types:

1) Industrial Pellets

Diameter

Maximum 10 mm

Calorific

15,1 MJ / kg, 4,2 kW / h

Humidity

< 12%

Ashes

> 1,5%

The density of mounds

> 500 kg / m

The strength in storage products

> 1,5% (particles smaller than 3 mm)

In the production of industrial pellets allowed a small number of the bark. These granules are used in large or medium-sized thermal installations. This is the cheapest pellets of the high ash content and low heating value. Capacity is the lowest during transportation.

2) The granules of the first class

Diameter

6-8 mm

Calorific

16,9 MJ / kg, 4.7 kW / h

Humidity

< 10 %

Ashes

< 0,7 %

The density of mounds

> 600 kg/m3

The strength in storage products

< 0,8% (particles smaller than 3 mm)

In the production of granules of the first class excludes the use of binders, as well as the bark. This fuel is more expensive, because it gives more power with less residual ash. Capacity higher during transportation.

3) Granules premium

Diameter

6-8 mm

Calorific

> 17.5 MJ / kg, 5 kW / h

Humidity

<10 %

Ashes

< 0,5 %

The density of mounds

> 650 kg/m3

The strength in storage products

< 0,8% (particles smaller than 3 mm)

Premium class pellets excludes the use of binders, as well as the bark. This fuel is most expensive, is packaged in bags 15 -- 30 kg . Sold at retail, used for heating homes (small heating plants, fireplaces) gives the greatest amount of energy with minimal ash content. Bigger capacity during transportation.

Transportation of wood pellets

Pellets can be transported in wagons (in bags, Big Bags), special vehicles, tanks with Pneumohoses to fill the tanks (bulk), railway wagons Khoper (bulk) or gondola car (Big Bags), or sea, ocean and river cargo ship (bulk, the capacity of 2000 tons for the small ports of up to 25 000 tons of dry cargo to the ocean and major ports).
